Accessible homes in a conservation area
A development of 28 contemporary flats on an attractive wooded site, sitting within the curtilage of a B Listed mansion beside the Clyde Estuary at Dumbarton. These new homes provide a modern interpretation of a traditional Scottish rural aesthetic while maintaining a close relationship to the conservation area site and its surroundings. The proposed scheme primarily caters for the frail & elderly, and there are two wheelchair-accessible flats. New homes are arranged around shared courtyards, where the tenants have organised their own planting, added features and organised outdoor events. Each home either has a covered porch and bench or is accessed from a stair shared with only one other resident.
