Clydebank

Clydebank East is a transformative development of 88 high-quality affordable homes, delivered in partnership by West Dunbartonshire Council, CCG (Scotland. Built on a long-neglected site with a complex history, the project has created a welcoming, inclusive neighbourhood shaped by local voices through layered community consultation, including public events and online engagement.

Set between Clydebank and Glasgow, the development sits close to Yoker Station, key bus routes, and the newly opened Renfrew Bridge strengthening connections to Renfrewshire and improving access to Glasgow Airport. New green spaces, upgraded walking and cycling routes, and improved public transport links help reconnect the area and support active travel, re-establishing a sense of place and community.

The masterplan responds to its urban edges and quieter surroundings, with a clear hierarchy of streets and spaces. A north–south pedestrian and cycle route runs through the site, breaking down former isolation and linking Clydebank’s residential areas to the waterfront. A prominent flatted block defines the entrance at Glasgow Road and Mill Road, while housing steps down in scale to the west and north, with bungalows near landscaped mounds creating calmer edges. Tree-lined streets, shared spaces, public art seating, and a dedicated play zone encourage neighbourliness.

Homes range from one to five bedrooms, including nine fully wheelchair-accessible properties, supporting families, older residents, and people with mobility needs. Clydebank East is also West Dunbartonshire’s first “net zero ready” housing development, designed to Silver Active Level standards with high-performance insulation, triple glazing, air source heat pumps, and solar panels to reduce emissions and running costs.
